Favorite Home Brew Adventures

I look forward to a motorcycle ride and the seasonal home brew beer. Usually I don’t care for the new beers, what I consider home brew. Normally, give me a miller draft and I’m good, but just like food. I like trying something different when I have the opportunity.

When living in Germany for 3 years, I came to love the Alt and Grolsch beer. Oktoberfest was fun but, the tents were filled to capacity and hard to get a beer. Bad Durkheim was better. One beer tent and everyone is there for the wine, no waiting for either.

Living in New England now, I come across more establishments offering local home brew. As fall comes around I enjoy the apple and pumpkin beers; along with a nice motorcycle ride. Luckily, I’ve been able to squeeze in a few more rides in before I put the bike away for the winter.

While passing through Lee, Massachusetts, Tertia and I came across Moe’s place; a small bar serving local home brew catering to the locals. The Simpson glasses and figurines made the place. After sampling a few, we went with the Down East cider. Life was good after a few of these.

I will do a bike ride for a blueberry and peach home brew to the Opa-Opa Brewing Company in Williamsburg, Massachusetts. You can get an excellent burger and home brew for 5 dollars. They also have the best crab cakes I’ve ever had.

Another fun place is the High Horse in Amherst, Massachusetts, a college town. There were more home brew samplings and an excellent menu. They had a few I enjoyed but went with the Crispin Hard Cider.  Choosing from the menu was a tough decision also. Everything sounded good. The Chili Burger and fries were better than expected. On a side note, Tator perfected the French fry. I could have ate a bucket of them.20131016_142212                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Soon the rides will end for a while but I still want my home brew. Joining a Monthly Beer Club will solve that. Not to mention I can get it delivered for free. I get to try different home brews at home. Life is getting better with the online beer stores.

There’s nothing better than a beer of the month club.

As with food, beer has been getting kicked up a notch. Now I have something to look forward to during the winter months. I don’t think I will mind getting snowed in this winter.
